melted sugar & nuts

ok folks here's a bit of family creativeity....this is a must for your next salad or scrumpous waffle......take 3/4 cup white sugar, a dash of fire oil, a small, small cinnamon sprinkle, & 1 teaspoon of vanilla.....put it all in a frying pan & cook on medium high until the sugar fully melts & threatens to smoke, (it turns brown) ..(turn your stove fan on so as not to set off the fire alarm)....when sugar is fully disolved throw in a cup of nuts stirring constantly, (pecans are great but so are walnut & almonds or a combo of all), if you think it's geting to hot lift your pan off the burner for a second...toss the nuts quickly so that the sugar coats every speck of nut...when it looks done dump out the nuts on a "pammed" cookie sheet...spread them quickly before they congeel (SP?)...let them cool completely then chop them in pieces with a giant sharp cleever...it takes quite a bit of chopping......................... .........................make sure you add them to a salad that has dried cranberries, onions & possibly very crisp bacon in addition to whatever else......Paul Newmans Balsamic Vinagerette Dressing is good to...or whatever you like.......this is also good on waffles.....or pancakes....well I hope you will enjoy this recipe....Happy Labor Day!
